Testimonials

“Hey Dr. Tory, this was the first cycle in over a year that I haven’t had extreme cramps, heavy bleeding, and had to miss work because I felt so awful! The cramps were actually manageable this time, I didn’t get a killer headache, and the bleeding was less clotty. I’m feeling hopeful that with your help my PMS and cycles will keep getting more normal!” -N.B.

“Good morning Tory, my hot flashes have decreased significantly! And I don't use that word lightly. I did not have a noticeable hot flash after my treatment yesterday until about 4 pm and then it was much weaker than usual and lasted only 10-15 seconds. During the night I noticed occasional warmth, but I only had to remove the covers 3 times. Even the night sweats weren’t as intense as usual!” -W.H.

“The morning sickness eased off after our treatment and I actually felt hungry for the first time in weeks and was able to keep food down!” -M.A.

 Frequently Asked Questions

How do you treat menstrual issues with holistic medicine?

Acupuncture and herbal medicine has been safely used for centuries to treat women’s health issues (long before birth control pills). The subtle nature of the reproductive endocrine system responds very well to acupuncture, herbs, nutritional therapy, and mind-body medicine.

Can holistic medicine help my hot flashes and menopause symptoms?

Yes. Our-time-tested holistic therapies are very effective at minimizing or eliminating the uncomfortable and disruptive symptoms of menopause. You don’t have to suffer with hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, brain fog, and moodiness.

What if I’m on hormone replacement therapy?

Not a problem. Continue taking your HRT as prescribed and our modalities can be safely used at the same time. If it is your goal to get off HRT, give your body time to stabilize with the support of holistic therapies, then discuss with your doctor how to properly taper.

What if I’m on birth control pill?

Not a problem. Keep taking your BCP as prescribed and our modalities can be safely used at the same time. If it is your goal to get off BCP, give your body time to stabilize with the help of holistic therapies, and then discuss with your physician how to properly taper.

How long does it take to regulate a cycle?

There is no set answer to that as it depends on your individual case. However, typically within 3-6 months cycles are more regular, PMS symptoms are minimal, and ovulation is occurring. After your initial consultation, a better time frame and prognosis can be given.

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

In skilled hands, acupuncture is gentle and safe during pregnancy. We never place needles in dangerous areas that would harm you or baby.

Most of our fertility patients continue care throughout their pregnancy so they have minimal morning sickness, uncomplicated pregnancies, minimal aches and pains, on time delivery, and healthy postpartum for mom and baby!

What about turning breech babies?

While acupuncture has a stellar reputation in this area, we choose not to provide this service. For safety reasons, attempts to turn your baby should be done in a hospital or OB clinic setting where the baby's heart-rate can be monitored.

Do you do acupuncture for "labor induction?"

Nothing we do is forceful or overly-stimulating so we prefer to call our treatments "birth facilitation," which send gentle signals to the body that it's time (based off due date or the OB's ok - all our pregnant women must also be under the care of a licensed OB or Midwife). These acupuncture treatments are not to be confused with medical inductions that occur with pitocin at the hospital. Just as conception has no fixed timeline, neither does welcoming your little one into the world. At this time, birth facilitation treatments are offered only to our established patients who have been working with us throughout their pregnancy.

Do I need to be under the care of an OBGYN?

Yes, if you are pregnant you must be under the care of a licensed OB/GYN or midwife.
